Daniel Shopey, LPC-A

Clinician Bio

Hello! My name is Dan. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) with more than twenty years of experience supporting children and families through therapy and early childhood education. My work focuses on helping people of all ages express themselves, process emotions, and build practical coping skills using creative and developmentally appropriate approaches.

I earned my Master’s degree in Human Services and Counseling from Post University along with a Postgraduate Certification in Professional Counseling. Over the years, I’ve worked as a case manager, intervention specialist, teacher, and therapist, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the challenges children, parents, and families face.

My approach blends evidence-based practices with creative therapeutic techniques. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and child-centered play therapy to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, confidence, coping skills, and overall well-being.

I believe therapy should feel safe, engaging, and tailored to each person’s needs. Whether working with children, teens, or adults, I strive to meet clients where they are and help them build tools for lasting growth.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy gardening, working as a motorcycle mechanic, and decorating cakes. I’m also a proud girl dad.
