My therapeutic approach includes supportive psychotherapy, CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused, and narrative therapies to engage clients in solidifying trust, building rapport, and working alongside them to set and reach obtainable goals. In addition, I also utilize elements from both play and art therapies to connect and engage clients through processing and expressing past trauma. Couple work includes both strategic and experiential modalities, which in my experience have assisted clients in challenging their “stuck” patterns, reaffirming goals, and re-establishing connection, roles, and rules within their family system
My Background and training
I graduated from Central Connecticut State University with my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2019. I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years in different capacities, building my skill set and learning about many different populations.
My main focus of practice with clients has been young adults struggling with life transitions, individuals coping and working to heal from trauma, families struggling to repair wounds, and couples working towards reconnecting. I use humor and transparency prominently in my treatment modalities, supporting each client through the therapeutic process.
Personal Interests
I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my family, including three beautiful step-children and our super lovable and playful golden retriever, Laney Loo.
“Change can be really scary in the beginning, messy in the middle, but if you hang in there, it can truly be beautiful in the end” – Brene Brown. This quote most accurately depicts my therapeutic practice and philosophy. It is scary to take the unknown leap, but my goal is to support my clients through those messy and scary unknowns, guiding them towards the beauty of it all. My goal is to collaborate with individuals, couples, and families to build rapport, gain trust, and meet clients where they are at, supporting them through building skills to meet realistic goals and improve overall well-being. I focus on creating a safe space for clients to work through their difficulties, feeling supported. I believe it is important to offer a non-judgmental, empathetic, and authentic space while at the same time challenging clients with a healthy balance of work and fun to heal.
