Clients who seem to connect with me tend to have a sense of humor, are open-minded, creative, and have a willingness to challenge their unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors. I seek to create a partnership. I believe that it is a privilege to hold space for people seeking help for their mental health and/or life circumstances. It is incredibly hard to ask for help from a stranger, and I have nothing but respect for those who do. I have no agendas as a therapist. My only concern is to meet you where you are at. I have specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, an evidence-based approach that has gained a lot of popularity in the last few years. Additionally, I have an eclectic approach of ego-supportive, CBT, and DBT-informed therapy. I adjust my approach based on the client. I have an extensive background working with adolescents, young adults, and adults in various settings. I worked for a non-profit as a case manager and eventually became the Team Leader for all of Adolescent Services programming which included oversight of shelters, transitional living programs, and case management. I have also worked in an Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program providing individual and family therapy to young people in acute crisis, using DBT. I worked at a group private practice for several years where I honed my skills as a therapist that treats various types of trauma. I work best with young adults to middle-aged groups. The issues that I work best with are: trauma, codependency, life transitions, grief, adult children of substance users, women’s issues, depression, and anxiety. I am incredibly passionate about music. My favorite pastime is going to see live concerts all over the tri-state area. I love to make my friends and family laugh. I get very excited about movies and series. I like searching for all the meanings behind different forms of artistic expression. I also love drawing, painting, and making collages. I enjoy browsing through a record shop and discovering new music. Dogs are my favorite. I prefer experiences over possessions. I also love what I do. When someone does the work and finally has that “a-ha” moment, my heart is always full.Kelly Jeanne Warringer, LMHC
